Leesa Luxury Hybrid Mattress Review

Leesa is a very popular brand here in the UK. They make a really good memory foam mattress but recently they decided to create a second one. In this Leesa Luxury Hybrid mattress review, I will talk about their decision to make a hybrid mattress.

My mattress arrived about 3 weeks ago and as expected, it was packed in a box. After allowing it to decompress for a day, I immediately noticed that the Leesa Luxury Hybrid is thicker than most rolled mattresses. To be precise, the mattress measures 28cm in height. This is due to the 5-layer construction they use but I will talk about this later. The mattress is manufactured here in the UK but is designed in the US. It’s time now to move to the full review below.

MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION

As I have already mentioned above, the Leesa Luxury Hybrid mattress is made of 5 layers. These are:

  • An Avena foam layer that is there to provide your body with the needed comfort. This layer is very breathable and allows airflow. It helps the mattress to stay cool during the night.
  • A contouring memory foam layer that provides your body with the needed pressure relief.
  • A core support foam layer which adds some extra comfort. It also helps with the transition from the upper foam layers to the bottom spring layer.
  • Pocket springs are placed underneath the 3 foam layers. They help with contour and motion transfer. They also allow airflow which helps the mattress stay cool during sleep.
  • Another core support foam layer which is essentially the base of this mattress.

In the image below, you can see the placement of each layer.

COVER

The cover of this mattress is made of polyester and lycra. They chose this blend because it is very breathable. On top, lycra has the ability to absorb moisture away from the body. The cover feels strong and is quite stretchy which means that it will stay in place. It’s not the softest I have seen but this is expected due to the use of polyester. The design of the cover is a nice one. They used a white colour combined with 4 grey lines at the bottom of the cover. This is essentially the ‘reverse’ design of the Leesa mattress. Overall, I think that they did a pretty good job here as the cover is both breathable and strong.

COMFORT & SUPPORT

The Leesa Luxury Hybrid mattress was designed to cover most people’s needs. That means that it’s a medium-firm mattress which is similar to the Leesa one. If I use my virtual scale, I would say it’s a 3.2 with 0 being really soft and 5 really firm.

It’s time now, I talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed. Starting from the back position, the mattress reacted quickly and the memory foam hugged my shoulders and hips. The springs provided me with support and I felt that my spine was aligned properly. It was comfortable in this position and I think that it did a good job.

Moving to the side position, sinkage increased and my hips went deeper in the mattress. In this position, the springs do the most work and I must say I felt supported. My weight was distributed correctly and again I felt my spine to be well aligned. This is because the springs allowed my hips to get to the right depth.

Finally, moving to the stomach position, I felt that if the mattress was slightly firmer it would be better. In the hips area I felt that I should be a bit more supported but nothing too bad. The memory foam and springs did a good job with my chest and overall this mattress did a decent job in this position. However, I think that this mattress did very well in the back and side position and probably is suited for sleepers who like to sleep this way.

The Leesa Luxury Hybrid was mainly built for couples. They used premium tempered-steel pocket springs to create a frame which helps a lot with the edge support. You can see this in the image below. On top, I noticed that the motion transfer is minimal which makes it ideal for couples.

SERVICE

This mattress is a rolled one. It comes in a black carton box that looks luxurious. I think this is the character they try to give to this mattress. It is only available in 4 sizes currently (all UK ones) which is something I wasn’t happy with. I hope they change this in a near future and they will offer EU sizes just like they do with Leesa.

Delivery is not the quickest I have seen as they need 1-5 working days to dispatch the mattress. Mine was dispatched after 4 days and it took a total of 6 days to arrive at my doorstep. They use UPS to deliver their mattresses which were prompt and polite. I received adequate communication from them and the overall experience was very good. The courier left the box at my door which means that I had to carry this to my bedroom. Depending on the size you are getting, the weight of the box can vary from 29kg to 55kg. So make sure you get help before you carry the box as it’s quite heavy. Overall, I was happy with the service I got although I would prefer they had faster delivery times.

TRIAL PERIOD & GUARANTEE

The Leesa Luxury Hybrid mattress, just like Leesa, comes with a 10-year guarantee which is something that many makers offer these days. It’s still great to have and we shouldn’t take this for granted. The mattress also comes with a 100-night trial period which gives you enough time to decide whether you are happy with it or not. If you don’t want to keep it, you can return it and get a full refund. All you have to do is contact them and they will arrange everything for you. Overall, I think that they do a good job here so no complaints at all.

RESPONSIBILITY

Leesa is a company that gives back to the community. For every ten mattresses they make, they donate one to charity. They currently work with many charities, even local ones, and the work they do is amazing.

Besides the mattresses, they also with the Arbor Day Foundation. For every mattress they sell they plant a tree. This is another excellent work by them and I think that more companies should follow.

VERDICT

Finishing this Leesa Luxury Hybrid mattress review, it’s a good time to share my final thoughts with you. This is a mattress that was designed with couples in mind. It has excellent edge support and minimal motion transfer. These two elements make it ideal for couples. It’s also a mattress that has a good overall performance in all sleeping positions (best for back and side sleepers) that comes with good service and support. The lack of extra sizes is the main drawback I see here and I hope that they will change this soon. If you have any questions about this mattress, feel free to drop me a line here.
