More and more mattress makers enter the UK market which is great news as we have more options to choose from. REM-Fit is another brand that arrived in the UK after having great success in the US. In this REM-Fit 600 mattress review, I will talk about their premium range and whether is an option you should consider.
After reviewing their 500 Ortho mattress, I was really keen to try the REM-Fit 600 which comes with a softer feel. Just like the 500, this is also a hybrid mattress so it combines memory foam with pocket springs. All REM-Fit mattresses come packed in a carton box and you should expect it to be delivered directly to your doorstep. I received my mattress almost a month ago so it’s about time to move to the full review below.
Materials & Construction
The REM-Fit 600 features a total of 4 layers plus the cover. These are:
- An open-cell memory foam layer which is there to keep the sleeping surface cool during sleep. REM-Fit has added zone-cuts which reduce pressure from the bonier areas of your body and provide it with the needed pressure relief.
- A layer which is made of 2,500 mini pocket springs (2.5cm high). This layer has the ability to adjust to your body’s shape and provide it with the needed support.
- A layer that is made of 1,000 pocket springs (12.5cm high). This type of springs add bounce but also help with support.
- A dense foam layer which works as the base of this mattress.
Moreover, they have also added foam-encapsulated sidewalls which help with the edge support. The picture below shows the position of each layer.
The cover of the REM-Fit 600 mattress is a very breathable one. To achieve that, they used Re-Ax fibres, a technology developed by them. This type of fibre has temperature-regulating abilities which help you have a more comfortable sleep. The cover feels soft but strong at the same time and I think it’s a high-quality one. If you want to clean it, you can remove it and machine-wash it at 40 degrees. This makes it very easy to maintain. The design of the cover is a nice one featuring a two-tone colourway. The top part is white and the bottom part is dark grey. The two colours are separated by an orange line. Overall, I think that REM-Fit did a good job here and the cover is a really nice one.
Comfort & Support
The REM-Fit 600 Lux mattress is designed for those who like a mattress with a softer feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 6 with 10 being really firm. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed.
Starting from the back position, as usual, the memory foam layer instantly hugged my hips and shoulders. In addition, the springs did a good job and I experienced this ‘cloud feeling’ they advertise. It was really comfortable in this position, especially for someone with my body weight (10 stones).
Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted quickly and sinkage increased. This allowed my spine to align properly and I felt that the mattress was supportive. Pressure relief was adequate and I felt that the mattress did a decent job in this position.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the mattress felt softer than I would prefer. Firmer mattresses usually work better in the stomach position so if you are a big person then you may face some issues here. I am a small person so I didn’t have any problem. The springs did a good job and I felt that I was well supported. Pressure relief was great and I felt that my spine was aligned correctly.
If you share your bed with a partner, the REM-Fit 600 would be a good choice. The springs used here are specifically designed to eliminate motion transfer and they do a great job. That means you can forget the annoying partner disturbance during the night. As for the edge support, the pocket springs and the foam-encapsulated sidewalls do a fantastic job so you will get the same performance across each corner.
It’s already mentioned above that the REM-Fit 600 is a ‘mattress in a box’ so it will be delivered directly to your door. When you buy yours, you will get a Free Next Working Day delivery service which is amazing. Besides that, they also offer a number of options so you will definitely find the one that suits your needs. In detail, these are:
|Next working day delivery||FREE|
|Day of choice delivery||FREE|
|Premium 2-person delivery||£20|
|Premium 2-person delivery + mattress removal||£50|
|Guaranteed Saturday delivery||£30|
I decided to go with the Premium 2-person delivery service as I didn’t want to carry the box by myself. After all, it’s a very heavy one so if you are alone, I would advise you to do the same. The couriers were polite and they followed my instructions. The delivery process was straightforward and I think that REM-Fit did a great job here.
Trial Period & Guarantee
Every REM-Fit mattress comes with a 15-year guarantee which is one of the best I have seen offered in the market. Most makers usually offer a 10-year guarantee so REM-Fit does a great job here. Besides that, you will also get a 100-night trial period which gives you plenty of time to decide whether you want to keep this or not. If for any reason, you are not happy with your purchase, you can return your mattress and get your money back. The process is not complicated and all you have to do is contact their customer service department. I have to state here that all returned mattresses are donated to the British Heart Foundation. This is a great gesture by REM-Fit and they show how much they care about the community. Overall, they offer a complete package here so no complaints at all.
It’s time now to complete this REM-Fit 600 mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. Overall, it’s a great mattress that is well balanced and performed well in all sleeping positions. Having said that, it’s definitely designed for those people who look for comfort and love a softer feel. It’s also good for couples that look for a hybrid mattress with minimal motion transfer. Finally, it’s well built and comes with great service and support. If you look for all these, then you should have this mattress high on your list.
