After reviewing the REM-Fit 500 mattress, I was really curious to see what they did with their 400 series. The two mattresses have a different feel but they follow the same design philosophy. The REM-Fit 400 mattress has a straightforward design and it’s made of 4 layers. These are:

- A dense foam layer which keeps the mattress altogether and helps with support.

Cover
The cover of the REM-Fit 400 mattress is designed to have thermo-regulating abilities. For this reason, they used Re-Ax fibres which are developed by them. The cover will keep you warm during the cold nights but will keep you cool when the temperature rises. It’s very breathable which allows the mattress to create a comfortable sleeping environment. The cover feels soft and it has a contemporary design. The top part features a white colour and the bottom part is dark grey. A purple line separates the two parts. The cover is removable so you can machine-wash it at 40 degrees. This is great as you can keep this clean easily. Unfortunately, there are no handles to help you move it and I think this is the only weakness of this cover. Other than that, I think they did a great job here.
Comfort & Support
This mattress is designed to suit the average sleeper. In my opinion, it’s the typical ‘mattress in a box’ so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.8 with 10 being really firm. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress did.
Let’s talk about the back position first. The foam layers did a good job hugging my hips and shoulders. They promise a ‘floating feeling’ and I must admit I felt this way. Support was great and I felt it was comfortable in this position.
Turning to the side position, the mattress reacted quickly and sinkage increased. This helped my spine to align correctly. Support was adequate and the mattress did a good job in this position.
Finally, turning to the stomach position, the mattress did a decent job but if you are an avid stomach sleeper, you should probably look for a mattress with a firmer feel. Having said that, I think that the REM-Fit 400 will suit combo sleepers as it performed well in all sleeping positions.
If you are a couple, this mattress can be a good choice for you. The great edge support means that you will get the same performance across every corner of the sleeping surface. Moreover, the taller pocket springs used here are designed to eliminate motion transfer so you won’t face the annoying partner disturbance. Therefore this is a couple-friendly mattress.
