Panda is a UK-based company that became popular by making memory foam pillows. Some time ago, they decided to enter the mattress sector and in this Panda Hybrid mattress review, I will discuss this exciting new option.
After reviewing the Panda pillow, I was very keen to get my hands on their mattress as it looked very promising. It’s a hybrid option that is designed to sleep cool but more on that later. My Panda mattress was delivered almost ten days ago so it’s the right time to move to the full review below.
Materials & Construction
The Panda Hybrid mattress features 4 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A BioCell foam layer that is infused with fresh bamboo. This layer will keep you at the perfect temperature so you can have a restful sleep.
- A dual layer of orthopaedic foam that can provide your body with both comfort and support.
- A layer made of 800 pocket springs that is the main source of support. These are specifically designed to minimise motion transfer.
- A high-resilience memory foam layer that can distribute weight evenly and absorb excess movement.

Cover
The cover of this mattress is an interesting one and it’s made of two parts. The upper part is made of bamboo yarn and the bottom part is made of polyester. The latter is actually made of recycled ocean bottles which is a great initiative by Panda. Polyester is a durable material that will last long. On the other hand, bamboo yarn is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial so this cover is ideal for allergy sufferers.
The top part is removable and if you want to clean it, you can machine-wash it. This is very practical as it makes cleaning a piece of cake. Of course, make sure you use a gentle cycle at a low temperature. The design is a gorgeous one and I personally loved the black and white colour combination. Unfortunately, there are no side handles and this is the only drawback I can report. Overall, this is a fantastic cover that won’t disappoint.
Comfort & Support
It’s time now to continue writing this Panda Hybrid mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a mattress built for the average sleeper so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.5 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about this mattress’ performance during the past ten days.
Lying on my back, I felt that the mattress distributed my weight evenly. This eliminated the pressure from my joints and that made me feel comfortable. Support was good and the sleeping surface felt cool.
Turning to the side position, the mattress reacted quickly and my spinal alignment was correct. Support remained adequate and I didn’t notice any discomfort on my hips or shoulders.
Finally, turning to the front position, I felt that the sleeping surface should be slightly harder for this position. I can’t say that it didn’t perform well but there is definitely better options out there if you are a stomach sleeper.
The Panda Hybrid mattress is well-built so naturally, the edge support is good. Additionally, the specially designed springs along with the several memory foam layers means that the motion transfer is minimal. That makes it a great choice for couples.

Although their delivery service is not the quickest in the UK (3-7 working days), they offer a number of free add-ons that really impressed me. For starters, they offer a free mattress removal service which is fantastic. If you have ever tried to get rid of an old mattress, you know that this is not an easy task. Additionally, they offer a free chosen day delivery service which is very handy for busy professionals. And lastly, they will place the mattress in the room of your choice.
In my case, I got the mattress within 4 working days and their service was exactly as I was promised. I didn’t ask for a mattress removal but I did schedule my delivery according to my week. The courier was very polite and everything went smoothly. Overall, I can say that I was very happy with their service.
