More and more companies these days try to create products using recycled materials. In this REM-Fit Eco Hybrid mattress review, I will talk about this new release that is designed for environmentally conscious customers.
After having great success with their hybrid mattresses, the people at REM-Fit decided it was time to create an eco-friendly range. Besides the Eco Hybrid mattress, there is also the Remy mattress that is a more budget-friendly option. As expected, this is another boxed mattress so it will come packed inside a carton box. Mine arrived around 3 weeks ago so it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.
Materials & Construction
This is a very well-made mattress that features 5 layers plus the cover. These are:
- A 2cm EcoFoam layer that is designed to add comfort and support.
- A 6cm EcoAdvance foam layer that has the ability to sleep cool. It can also mould around your body and provide a customised sleeping experience.
- A spring layer that is made of 2,000 mini-springs and 1,000 pocket springs. The two types of springs work well together so you should expect great levels of support.
- A side wall system that is made of EcoFoam. This is designed to help with edge support.
- A high-density foam layer that keeps this mattress altogether. According to the maker it can comfortably withstand up to 40 stones for a minimum of 15 years.
The Eco Hybrid mattress has a medium profile and measures 25cm in height. The image below showcases the inside of this mattress.
Cover
The cover of this mattress is made of 100% recycled plastic. It comes with a plain design but that is a choice that the designers made to avoid using unnecessary colouring. To make it look more premium, they added a woven knitted finish and this is something that I liked. As expected, this is a removable cover and you can use your washing machine anytime you want to clean it. Make sure you use a gentle cycle and a temperature that doesn’t exceed 40 degrees. The cover feels soft and it seems very durable. Overall, they did a good job here and it’s great this cover is entirely made with upcycled ocean plastic.
Comfort & Support
It’s time now to continue with this REM-Fit Eco Hybrid mattress review and talk about my experience with it. This mattress comes with a medium-firm feel and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.5 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about the three main sleeping positions.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt supportive from the beginning and my weight was evenly distributed. The foam layers provided my body with pressure relief and I felt quite comfortable in this position.
Turning to the side position the springs reacted quickly and my spine was aligned correctly. The mattress didn’t cause any discomfort in my hips or shoulders and I felt well supported.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the sleeping area felt slightly softer than I would prefer but that didn’t affect its performance. The mattress supported my weight and pressure relief was great. My spine’s alignment was neutral and overall, I think that this mattress is a good all-rounder.
If you share your bed with a partner, the tall springs are designed to minimise motion transfer so you will probably don’t disturb your partner. Additionally, edge support is great with the encapsulated side walls doing a great job.
Service
All REM-Fit mattresses come with a free next-day delivery service. This is probably the best service in the UK so well done here. In order to get your mattress the following day, you have to place your order before 1 pm. Besides that, you can also choose a delivery date and that is also free. Finally, during checkout, there is an option for you to have your old mattress removed. This will cost you a small fee but it’s a great add-on and I am very happy that REM-Fit gives us this option.
When I ordered from them, I got my mattress the following day and the courier was prompt and polite. Communication was great and I was well informed about the delivery process. The box came in great condition and it was not particularly heavy. That allowed me to move it around by myself. Overall, they offer a fantastic service so no complaints at all.
Trial Period & Guarantee
If you decide to buy a REM-Fit mattress, you will get a 100-night trial period. This allows you to try this mattress first before you decide whether you are happy with it or not. In the case this is not what you expected, you can return it and get your money back. The process is not a complicated one and all you have to do is contact their customer support department. When a mattress is returned, REM-Fit donates it to the British Heart Foundation. This is a great gesture by them and it shows how much they care about the local community.
All REM-Fit mattresses come with a 15-year guarantee so you will be covered for a long time. Most boxed mattresses come with a 10-year one so the people at REM-Fit did a pretty good job here.
