Materials & Construction
The Emma NextGen Premium mattress features a total of 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A Halo memory foam layer that can help you optimize your spinal alignment.
- A lower-density foam layer that adds high levels of comfort.
- A supportive foam layer that can provide you with pressure relief so you can get a better sleep.
- A pocket springs layer that features a 7-zone system. This can provide your body with tailored support.
- A polyester layer that helps with stability and durability.
The mattress measures 25cm in height and the picture below shows us how it looks from the inside.
Cover
The cover of this mattress is made of polyester which is a material that is very breathable and this is the main reason they used it here. In addition, polyester is quite durable and it’s easy to maintain. The cover is removable and if you want to clean it, you can use your washing machine at 40 degrees. The design is almost identical to the other Emma mattresses featuring a two-tone colourway. The upper part is white with the bottom part being dark grey.
On the sides, they have added 4 handles that will help you move it whenever that is needed. This is clever thinking and it’s great that they have added this feature. Finally, at the bottom of the mattress, anti-slip elements were added so the mattress stays in place. Overall, this is a well-designed cover so no complaints at all.
Comfort & Support
I want to continue writing this Emma NextGen Premium mattress review and talk about its feel. This mattress is designed to suit most people so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 6.8 with 10 being really firm. I would like now to talk about my experience with it during the past ten days.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt comfortable and my spine was properly aligned. Pressure relief was adequate and the mattress felt supportive.
Turning to the side position, the mattress reacted quickly and sinkage increased. This helped my spine to align properly and I felt that the mattress was supportive enough. It was comfortable sleeping this way and the zoned system did a good job with the weight distribution.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the mattress had an ideal firmness for my weight and I felt my hips and shoulders were well supported. The mattress felt comfortable and overall I can say that this is a good all-rounder that will suit every type of sleeper.
If you share your bed with a partner this mattress would be a good option as it has great edge support. On the other hand, you should expect some motion transfer but nothing that will bother you too much.

When you order an Emma mattress, you will get free delivery for all UK postcodes. They usually deliver their mattresses within 2-5 working days. If you want a Saturday delivery, you will have to pay an extra £35. This is also the cost to have your old mattress removed.
The Emma Premium mattress will be delivered inside a carton box just like the one pictured below. Mine took 3 working days and it was delivered by DPD. The courier was prompt and overall I was happy with the service I got.

Every Emma mattress comes with a 200-night trial period that is one of the longest in the UK market. That means that you have more than 6 months to try this mattress and decide later whether you want to keep it or not. If you are not happy with it, you can return it for free and get a full refund. All you have to do is contact them and they will arrange everything for you.
