Since I started this site, I always wanted to write this Eve mattress review. The reason is quite simple. Eve is the company that started all this here in the UK. They are the first to properly market a rolled mattress and in a way, they introduced this category to all British consumers.
I finally got my Eve mattress about a month ago and it was about time I write this review. For those who are not familiar with this mattress, Eve is a memory foam mattress so it’s quite different from all the hybrid mattresses that I have reviewed so far. This means that it doesn’t have pocket springs and it uses the latest memory foam technology to provide you with the right amount of support and comfort. Eve makes their mattresses here in the UK, using high-quality materials and delivers them in carton boxes directly to your door. Like every rolled mattress, you should expect a bad smell the first few days so don’t get disappointed, it will go away soon. I now want to talk in more detail about the Eve mattress.
Materials & Construction
Eve makes their mattresses using a total of 3 layers and the sleeping surface. More specifically Eve features the below layers:
- A breathable memory foam layer that supports your body and provides you with the needed pressure relief. It also keeps the top part of the mattress cool during sleep and adjusts to your movements.
- A cooling foam layer which keeps the whole mattress cool during the night and allows airflow so the mattress can breathe.
- A supportive base layer which provides the body with support but also keeps the mattress altogether.
Cover
Eve has designed an excellent cover for their mattress. They have used a four-way stretch knit for maximum comfort which feels soft and of high quality. It’s a breathable material to allow airflow as this was a really important aspect for Eve during the design process; To make a mattress that can stay cool during the night. At the bottom of the cover, Eve applied an anti-slip coating which is fantastic! This shows that Eve designs their mattresses to be practical and easy to use. The design of the cover is another thing that I really liked. I know, we don’t get to see the mattress too often but I am a woman and I do appreciate a good design! Eve has applied a yellow colour on the sides which is a young and fresh look and opted for the classic white colour for the top part.
You can machine wash the cover at a low temperature (up to 40 degrees) so don’t worry about the maintenance of your mattress. There is a zip so it’s quite easy to remove the cover. Overall, I think that Eve did a great job with the design and the choice of the materials they used.
Comfort & Support
Eve designed their mattresses to cover everyone’s needs. Therefore they are going with a medium-firm approach which will be good for most people. If I use a virtual firmness scale, with 0 being really soft and 5 being really firm, I would say that Eve is a 3.2.
I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and the experience I had reviewing the Eve mattress. I always start from the back position which I admit is my favourite one. While lying on my back, I felt that the memory foam did a really good job hugging my body from top to bottom. The sinkage was low, which I like and I felt that my body was properly supported and the spine was correctly aligned.
Turning to the side position I felt the memory foam adjusting very quickly to my body. This is a good sign that it is a high-quality foam. Sinkage increased a bit which is quite natural and my spine was aligned well in this position. The mattress felt a bit harder so comfort decreased a bit. However, this is happening for a better spine alignment so I can live with that.
Finally, turning to the stomach position, Eve adapted again very quickly. In all honesty, I think this is the fastest adapting memory foam I have tried! My body was ‘hugged’ but not too much and my hips stayed in the right position during the time. It felt quite comfortable to stay in this position although is my least favourite.
I will now talk about the edge support of the Eve mattress. Lying on the sides to see how the mattress behaves I realised that this is a solid construction and the edge support is excellent. Overall, the Eve mattress did a very good job both supporting my body and providing me with the needed pressure relief.
Service
I have already mentioned that the Eve mattress will come directly to your door in a nice carton box (picture below). Delivery is free for all sizes and you should expect your mattress in no more than 1-3 days if you live on the UK mainland. Outside that, it will take a bit longer. There are also some other delivery options which are not free. If you want for example a Saturday delivery it will cost you an extra £30 and if you want a specific time slot during weekdays, it will cost you between £10-£20.
Unfortunately, there is no next-day delivery service available due to high demand. This is not great for people who are in a hurry! However, my mattress arrived 2 days after I placed my order so don’t panic yet! The mattress is available in 11 sizes so you will definitely find the one for your needs! This is really impressive from Eve and only Simba matches this number of sizes. Overall, Eve offers a great service to their customers despite the lack of next-day delivery service.
Trial Period & Guarantee
Eve was the first company to establish a 100 days trial period for all customers. This is very important when you buy a mattress online as we need to make sure that this is the right mattress for us. If you are not happy with your purchase, Eve will pick up the mattress from your place and give you a full refund. They promise a no-hassle return service so don’t expect them to ask you many questions. Besides the trial period, the mattress comes with a 10-year guarantee which will have you covered for a long time! This is another great feature of the Eve mattress and overall they do a great job when it comes to their after-sale service.
Verdict
After completing this Eve mattress review, it’s time to give you my final thoughts. The Eve mattress is a great memory foam mattress. It performed really well in all the sleeping positions and it has good edge support. It is made of high-quality materials and excellent service and support. The lack of next-day delivery is a negative thing but their free delivery is pretty quick anyway. So if you look for a good memory foam mattress that comes at a fair price then you should look nowhere else than Eve.
